The Punjab Government has appointed new 106 Medical Officers (Dental). These
doctors were handed over appointment letters by Mr Madan Mohan Mittal, Health
& Family Welfare Minister, Punjab during a ceremony held at Directorate of
Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, Sector 34, Chandigarh. He was accompanied by Dr Navjot
Kaur Sidhu, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Health, Punjab and Ms. Vini Mahajan,
Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Punjab.
While addressing the newly appointed dental doctors, Sh Madan Mohan Mittal
welcomed them to the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Punjab. He lauded the role of the health department for
holding the recruitment process in a most fair and transparent manner. He added
that for the convenience of the candidates, the department has adopted the
procedure to give place of postings to the candidates as per their choices,
according to their merits.
He stressed the doctors to work with sincerity and
provide good health care services to the people, especially the poor people. He
urged them to add grace to the reputation of the health department through
their hard work and sincerity. Mr Mittal reiterated the commitment of the
Government to provide good health care at the doorsteps of the people.
Dr Navjot Kaur
Sidhu stated that the profession of doctors was a noble profession and they are
considered next to God. Unlike other professionals who deal with machines, the
profession of doctor's is related to human beings and they have the skills to
save the precious lives. She exhorted the newly appointed doctors serve the
humanity, selflessly and with highest dedication. The more and more you give in
to your profession, the more and more you will rise. She asked the doctors to
refrain from ill-practices like private practice etc.
Ms Vini Mahajan, welcomed the doctors to the fold of the department and also
personally interacted with them. She addressed queries of doctors on various
issues pertaining to their appointments and joining. She said that Health Care
services is one of the top priority area and to meet the shortage of doctors,
recently the Specialists and MBBS doctors were appointed and now the Medical
Officers Dental have been given appointment letters. She said that all other
vacant posts of doctors and para-medical staff that were vacant since long are
now being filled at a very fast pace, the step which would give a major boost
to the health services in the state.
Dr J.P. Singh, Director Health Services and Dr Karanjit Singh, Director Family
Welfare also addressed the newly appointed doctors.
