CHANDIGARH, SEPT 28
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today lashed
out at the police and the Faridkote administration for remaining quiet in
tracing a teenager abducted from outside her house on Monday.
In
a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder while expressing solidarity with
the parents and other family members of the victim maintained that it was sad
and tragic that the parents of the abducted girl had to undergo such a trauma
while police and administration were sleeping.
Supporting
the protest and the bandh called by the local residents against the abduction
and police support to them, he said, the people had no other way to press for
their anger. He said, it was shameful on part of the state administration to
turn a blind eye towards such a serious issue.
The
PCC President asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as how could he turn
a blind eye to the kidnapping of a girl while being just a few kilometers away
in his native village holding a free medical camp. He regretted the insensitivity
of the people, administration and the powers that be about it.
Meanwhile,
Punjab Congress general secretary and former Faridkote MLA Kikki Dhillon has
also condemned the kidnapping and demanded immediate action to trace the girl.
He criticized the police for not taking action at the behest of some local
Akali politicians.
