The Punjab
Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, today assured an early relief to
Industry Trade and other sections of the Amritsar
area that called on him to seek various kinds of relief in taxation policy.

Relations Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia pleaded the cause of various
sectors of Industry & Trade and requested Deputy Chief Minister who is also
holding Excise & Taxation portfolio and impressed upon Deputy Chief
Minister to take an early call on their requests.
Taking serious view of break
down of civic conditions in Sabzi Mandi, Mr. Badal asked Punjab Mandi Board to
take immediate steps to restore sewerage and water supply network in the Mandi
besides making all arrangements for cleanliness there. He also asked
electricity authorities to upgrade power infrastructure in Mandi for quality
power supply. Mr. Badal said that if Punjab Mandi was earning mandi fee from Amritsar mandi the board
was duty bound to provide all civic amenities in the mandi.
Reacting to the demand made
by Punjab Rice Millers Association for exemption from 3% Punjab
Infrastructure Development Fund, Mr. Badal constituted a three member committee
to study this issue thread bare and make a suggestion thereof. He said that the
committee would make detailed assessment of investment potential if PIDF was
waved, compare it with neighbouring state and also calculate the indirect
saving by the state if the farmers switch over from Parmal to Basmati Paddy.
Mr. Badal asked the committee its report within one week.
