CHANDIGARH, SEPT 16
The Punjab Government is all set to organize a two-day Mega Medical Checkup Camp at Village Badal on 23rd and 24th September, which would be inaugurated by the Governor of Punjab Mr. Shivraj V. Patil.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office informed that Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal reviewed the arrangements made by the Health department for this camp
during a high level meeting held at CM’s residence late last evening.
Mr. Badal reiterated the firm commitment of SAD-BJP government to provide best health care facilities to the people of the state at their doorsteps. He directed the health department to organize such camps from time to time in the far flung rural areas of the state so that maximum people could avail these benefits. Mr. Badal also called upon the Specialist doctors of various renowned private health Institutions to join the mega venture of the state to serve the humanity.
The Chief Minister said that due to unawareness there was a general trend amongst the people especially in rural sector to ignore or obscure the health related problems that leads them to a miserable condition. Emphasizing the need to provide health care to the rural people through launching these type of camps he said that it was also the bounden duty of the health organizations to launch a massive awareness drive through the mass media for educating people about various symptoms of dreaded diseases like cancer, hepatitis, diabetes and stroke etc. to save precious lives by ensuring in time proper
health care.
Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Mrs. Vini Mahajan informed in the meeting that during this Mega Medical Checkup camp 150 to 200 specialist doctors from 14 disciplines of medical science like
Cardiology, Neurology, Skin, ENT, Medicine, Orthopedic, Urology, Pediatrics, Eyes and Dental etc. along with 400 Para medical staff members were likely to participate and would examine the about ten
thousand patients in two days. During the camp free of cost medicines would be distributed, added Mrs. Mahajan. She also informed the Chief Minister about all other necessary arrangements like setting up of 36
different checkup booths, testing labs, Ultra sound equipment, disposal of Bio-Medical waste etc.
In this Mega Camp, teams of expert doctors from Postgraduate Institution of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh headed by Dr Rajesh Kumar and Dayanand Medical College & Hospital
(DMC) Ludhiana headed by Dr. BS Aulakh would also participate besides, SAARC Surgical Care Society’s team, which include some eminent doctors from Pakistan along with Indian experts. PGI authorities had also agreed to send their special van equipped with latest cancer detection machines at the campsite for the examination of Cancer patient. The health department had also deputed its 10 mobile units at the camp,
added Mrs. Mahajan.
Prominent amongst those were present in the meeting included, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal, Principal Secretaries to the Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Special Principal
