In order to provide better health
care facilities to the people and bridge the gap of shortage of doctors in the
state, the Department selection committee constituted to conduct
walk-in-interviews of Specialist Doctors, would hold the first round of walk-in-interview on September 17, 2012
in the premises of State Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Phase-VI, Ajitgarh (Mohali). The Punjab Council of Ministers
had given its nod to hold such walk-in-interview to appoint specialist doctors
on 16th of each month (or next working day in case 16th
is a holiday), during the Cabinet meeting held on 28th August 2012.
The Cabinet had decided that recruitment of Specialists may be taken out of the
purview of the PPSC and these posts filled through ‘walk-in- interviews’ as
well as campus recruitments from amongst the pass-outs of Medical Colleges of
Punjab state and the doctors pursuing MD courses at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
This was stated here today by Dr.
J.P. Singh, Director, Health & Family Welfare, Punjab. He said that number
of posts in various specialities that are lying vacant would now be filled
through these walk-in-interviews each month. He informed that speciality wise
vacant posts are Anaesthesia 60, Gynaecology 48, Medicine 39, Paediatrics 127,
Radiology 37, Psychiatry 23, Surgery 23, Pathology 8, Orthopaedics 9, TB &
Chest 5, Ophthalmology 4, Skin 2, Community Medicine 2 and ENT 1.
Director Health informed that
interested candidates can appear in the walk-in-interview on 17/09/2012. He
said that the selection of candidates will be held in fair and transparent
manner as per the approved criteria and shall be based on interview only. He
informed that all necessary details in this regard had been uploaded on the
department’s website www.pbhealth.gov.in
