Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today constituted a four-member committee comprising
Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development, Principal Secretary Local
Govt., Principal Secretary Finance under the chairmanship of state Chief
Secretary to frame a policy aimed at regularization of the marriage palaces
within and outside the municipal limits of the cities/towns in accordance with
the directions issued by the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The committee had been asked to submit
its report within two weeks.
Disclosing this here
today a spokesperson of the CMO said that the committee would ensure proper and
effective implementation of bylaws and regulations under the policy by all
concerned. The Chief
Minister asked the delegation of marriage palace welfare association led by its
President Mr. SS Sidhu that the state government was already concerned about
their grievances but at the same time he also underlined the need for strict
implementation of the policy to be evolved amicably in consultation with the
owners of the marriage palaces.
Mr. Badal also asked the
committee to look into all aspects after detailed deliberations with the stake
holders before the policy for regularization of marriage palaces was put in
place. He asked the members
of the committee to examine the entire issue in a holistic manner within the
already laid down norms for seeking requisite sanctions from the designated
development authorities.
