CHANDIGARH, SEPT 18
The Punjab Government has issued instructions to Medical and
Dental colleges to fill remaining 38 MBBS and 524 BDS seats of NRI Quota
strictly adhering to Medical Council of Indian (MCI) and Dental Council of
India (DCI) guidelines.
Disclosing
this here, a spokesman of Medical Education and Research Department said that
Medical and Dental colleges have been instructed to fill all vacant seats of
NRI quota according to PMET Merit as well as MCI/DCI’s guidelines.
He
further said that after second counseling by Baba Farid University of Health
Sciences, Faridkot, only 38 MBBS and 524 BDS seats in NRI quota were vacant.
Out of 38 seats, 23 seats in Aadesh
College, Bathinda and 15
seats in PIMS, Jalandhar remained vacant. He added that 524 BDS seats of NRI
quota are vacant in 14 colleges of the state.
According
to new instructions, students could apply till September 24, 2012 for admission
under NRI quota in university or colleges. These seats would be filled by
colleges through counseling at their level pursuing the guidelines.
The
spokesman said that Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot has set
up helpline numbers, which are; 01639-256232 or at Directorate, Medical
Education and Research office numbers 0172-2690817, 269084 or Fax at
0172-2690151.
