CHANDIGARH, OCT 21
Chandigarh October 21 : Congratulating, the owners, managers and supporters of the Sunday Guardian for its successful launch, the Punjab Governor and Administrator Mr Shivraj V. Patil said that, let us hope and pray that it would prove to be one of the most sought after paper in the country. He said, India is a vast and most thickly populated country.  The demands and problems of 1.2 billion people of it are huge, enormous and most complicated.  All things that need be given to them can be counted in equally big numbers.  They need more schools, more colleges, more universities, more hospitals, more houses, more busses, more trains, more aeroplanes, more policemen, more water, more food, and more information.
The Governor said , In last few years, the number of newspapers, magazines, journals, T.V. channels have gone up by leaps and bounds. Yet, more of them are needed.
Mr Patil said, the space, the time, the knowledge are unlimited. Human beings may work day and night for unlimited number of years, yet they may not be able to reach the limits of them.  Hence, it can be
held, that for media, the print and visual, there is unlimited scope to develop.  The print media may publish any number of pages. He said the visual media may  have any number of channels, and may work twenty-four hours of every day.  Yet, they would have enough material to cover them.
They would have more material than they would be able to cover.  It would not be necessary for them to meet anybody for
information to write and prepare stories for them.  It would not be necessary to concoct stories to cover their space and time. He said, if they pay attention only to specific areas, they may lack information.  If they concentrate on matters political only, and that to find fault with this or that man or policy, they may be required to use their brain power to invent stories.  But, if they pay attention to the lives of the people, and all sections of the people and to all aspects of human existence nature, space, time, science and technology, and such other things, they would not have enough space and time to cover a fraction of  them.  And that can give them returns, in forms of money, and real pleasure, vision, and capability to understand the past, the present and the future of the existence, genesis, and destruction.
What they are doing now, have glimpses of these trends and traces of these directions.  We need not doubt that in future, they would have more of that, and would prove to be a very important source of knowledge for one and all from the cradle to the grave.
Punjab Governor said, let us hope that the Sunday Guardian would protect, the truth, justice, unity, bliss and beauty, all the living and non-living things, plants and creatures and the lofty concepts and ideas which give meaning to life and existence, and fight the forces, of greed, falsehood, hypocrisy, narrow-mindedness, short sightedness, dis-unity, with valour and girt and with confidence in themselves and the victory of the good against the bad and the weak.
